Fire Extinguishers

There are several types of fire extinguishers and the correct type should be used for each

type of fire.

All new fire extinguishers are red, but 5% of the area is coloured using the code shown below.

Red : Water Blue : Dry Powder Cream : Foam Black : Carbon Dioxide Green : Halon (No longer in use)

***Flammable metals should only be extinguished using specialist extinguishers.***

Fire Blankets

Fire Blanket

Fire blankets are for use on cooking fires such as chip pan fires.

Extreme care should be taken when using a fire blanket as there is a risk of suffering burns if not used correctly.
